Results of the GMAC Student Reporters’ Challenge 2008

GMAC would like to extend its warm appreciation to all schools and students who have supported and participated in the GMAC Student Reporters Challenge 2008.

The response for the competition was overwhelming. We received a total of 26 entries for the Upper Primary Category, 14 entries for the Lower Secondary Category, and 21 entries for the Upper Secondary Category.

The entries received are of excellent quality. After rigorous rounds of judging, we will like to announce the results as follows:

Prizes and the Sharing of Knowledge

The prizes for each of the competition category are as follows:

  1. First Prize - $1,000 worth of Borders Gift Card/Team
  2. Second Prize - $600 worth of Borders Gift Card/Team
  3. Third Prize - $300 worth of Borders Gift Card/Team

The schools of the winning teams will also receive trophies.

To enable the participants to share their findings and knowledge, the top entry from each of the three competition categories will be mass produced and disseminated through the following channels:

  • Hard copies of the first prize entries will be made available at the national libraries and the Singapore Science Centre for pick up by members of the public
  • Soft copies will be posted on the websites of GMAC and the Singapore Science Centre
  • E-copies will be forwarded by the Ministry of Education to all primary and secondary schools in Singapore for further dissemination to students.

We thank all participants for their efforts and creativity. All of you are winners in your own ways, and all will be given certificates of participation for your excellent work.

We will get in touch with all participants shortly. We will also follow-up with the teams that have been awarded the first prizes, so as to advise the editorial changes that need to be made before the newsletter can go to print.
